Based in Burlington, Vermont, Karen brings her blend of intimate portraiture and candid photojournalism to every event she covers. Throughout the day, she works to make photographs brimming with emotion, spontaneity and the unique personalities of her subjects.

In 2001, I left a 20-year career in newspaper photojournalism to open my Burlington-based portrait studio. It has been an amazing and rewarding 18 years and I've had the joy and privilege of telling hundreds of visual love stories of couples getting married and of families celebrating life cycle events.

My days are a mix of photographing the most beautiful children, the most wonderful families, an eclectic and fascinating array of musicians, bankers, mothers, fathers, models, actors, teachers, activists, grandparents, teenagers, politicians, love-struck engaged couples, pregnant moms-to-be, Bar Mitzvah students, athletes, newborn babies and, of course, the cutest dogs!

I am 16 years married to my wife, Gillian, and we have successfully raised our three amazing kids to adulthood, but still have two very needy dogs and a "fixer upper" home (also very needy!)

I manage to get in my daily bikram yoga practice and during our limited down time, we like to hike, cook and watch movies.

When it comes down to it, no one likes having their picture taken.

And yet, we LOVE pictures of our family and friends, we ADORE looking through our friends' wedding albums and CRAVE new portraits of our children.

I completely understand that choosing your photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make- for whatever milestone you are approaching-- be it a birth, a  wedding, a 50th anniversary party, a B'nai Mitzvah, Your High School senior's graduation or a family reunion and a chance to have that large portrait taken while everyone is together.

I live to take pictures, to make beautiful and memorable images from weddings and events, to bring out my subjects' unique personalities in portraits and to capture with my lens the sacred and fleeting moments in their lives that will bring joy and laughter and comfort to them over and over as the years go by.

Contact me and let me tell your stories with my camera. Let the Love begin.
