2016 In review
I have heard from many people that this was a hard year, but I beg to differ! I loved 2016 and I'd like to thank all of my amazing clients (and friends!) for helping to make this year so memorable...I'll take one minute to gush about being named as the Seven Daysie's Best Photographer so thank you to everyone who honored me with your vote. It feels really good to know my work is appreciated!
This is that time of year that I get to post some of my favorite pictures and recognize some phenomenal companies and organizations that I work with. I have definitely shot some awesome events, starting with longtime client BCBSVT From their yearly ad shoots to all of the amazing events they sponsor, I am definitely kept on my toes..
My favorite event of the year...
Another organization I just adore working with is the Vermont Education Health Initiative, a nonprofit health insurance trust for Vermont school employees. This year, they highlighted 30 wellness superstars from around the state and I got to travel to all corners of Vermont to do mini photo stories of the winners for the VEHI website.
I also document VEHI's many health programs, culminating with the annual summer wellness institute- like summer camp for teachers and school support staff!
On the "Health" front, I continue to do the photography for the Vermont Health Dept and this year, we are starting to do some major website redesigns (not unveiled yet!) and new brochures and rack cards. I love all of the final results, including this new campaign for the division for the blind and visually impaired:
I have new clients this year and have loved building these new relationships. Myfavorite new ad campaign this year has to be Danform Shoes!
Each year, I do the portraiture for the incoming class of the Babson College's Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL). The center promotes a diverse range of entrepreneurial leaders and encourages these young women to create economic and social value for themselves, their organizations, and society. I'm IN!!!
I also continue my work with the New England Dairy Council and one of my fave events to shoot is Breakfast on the Farm, which highlights the best of Vermont's dairy farms...
There are so many non profits and charitable orgs. that I work with and they all do noble and necessary work to make Vermont a better place to live. Spectrum Vt, Vt Pride and Comcast Cares Day are the three I highlight below, but they are SO MANY more so please excuse me for not having room to pay homage to all!
On a very personal level, my absolute new favorite client is Queen City Bikram Yoga Studio. Marla Ceppetelli and her teaching staff have not just turned me into a Bikram enthusiast, I have come to believe that practicing these 26 postures each day, in their glorious 105 degree hot room, makes me feel happier and healthier than I ever have. That said, every picture I shoot for them is straight from the heart!
Beyond the corporate and business world, the studio is booming and I am busy with portraits all year. I've culled some of my favorites together, but I love way too many to post here...
Of course, it goes without saying that I LOVE MY BRIDAL COUPLES!! Here's a look back at these beautiful couples and my favorite proposal:
I never know what to do with those pictures that I take headed to or from an actual job, so I've started a greeting card line I call "MY VERMONT" and it seems to be a good outlet. These are this year's faves:
While I love Vermont, sometimes, you just need to travel elsewhere. This summer, my wife and I visited Paris and then drove to Normandy. It was a truly magical experience (producing hundreds of images and I cant run this blog post without including some pictures that I adore:
Sometimes, I miss my old newspaper photojournalist hat, so when there's an interesting rally or news event, I can often be found there. Trump's visit to Burlington was too tempting to stay away and I'm glad I went. It was quite the scene and generated a huge discussion on social media, especially the image of the man in a KKK hood..
After the Orlando shooting, the Pride Center held a vigil and our beloved Bernie Sanders came to pay his respects..
I am always asked what is my favorite picture and my answer is always the same... It's the one I will take tomorrow.
Peace and Love to you all in 2017.
