So what do 50 photographers do when they get together? Why, take pictures of one another, what else?
On this occassion, we were all together at Sugarbush Resort for a workshop led by Kevin Kubota, one of the top wedding photographers in the country and a genius in the area of worksflow. He was joined by Vicki and Jed Taufer, a husband and wife team with one of the nation’s most successful photo studios.
It was 2 days of learning, coaching, laughing, venting and sharing. Four dozen photo geeks debating Nikon vs. Canon, the virtue of natural lighting over strobe, megagpixels, high ISO settings, specialty lenses and the newest and greatest “toys” on the market.
We also all contributed to the growing number of entries on the website for “the lying down game” in which photographers around the country take pictures of themselves or friends looking like they are laid out dead in unusual places. Included in the following “photo highlights” from the conference are a few LIE DOWN contributions of mine.
In short, it was a great couple of days of recharging with old friends, meeting new ones and enjoying the creative energy that comes when there is so much talent in one place. It is a great reminder of why I love being a photographer and the joy it brings to my life.

…after the workshop was a party at Barrie’s which went late into the night. It must have been some good fun because the next day, I couldnt for the life of me figure out what happened to all of the photos I took. Oh well.. it’s probably for the best!

Awesome documentation of the workshop, Karen! I enjoyed looking through these and was happy to see you had some lying down photos at the end. I was too busy laughing to take any, apparently. What a great time we had!! xo
