Dad’s 80th birthday weekend

I traveled with my family to Boston for Thanksgiving and celebrated my dad’s 80th birthday! It was a wonderful weekend, a great Thanksgiving dinner at my sister Judy’s house and then a gathering at my brother Larry’s home Friday night which also included my dad’s brother’s family (my cousins and their kids!)

There was nothing fancy about this party and it was catered by the local chinese restaurant (my dad’s favorite food!) but it was one of the best nights in recent history, with those I love all around. This slideshow may not interest anyone else except my family, but I had to blog it just for them! Happy Birthday, dad. I love you!

Lona and Sarah’s GRAND wedding

Lona and Sarah had originally planned on having a Fall civil union in Vermont, but happily changed their plans to be married after Vermont passed the Marriage Equality Bill. So, on October 17, at the gorgeous Grand Isle Lake House, the two Minneapolis women exchanged their vows in front of about 60 friends and family members.

The weekend started with a Friday night party at the ECHO Science Center on the Burlington waterfront and then continued Saturday with a beautiful outdoor wedding, a scrumptuous dinner by Lake House executive chef Cheryl Eddy and dancing with the help of DJ Aaron Toppler until the bridal couple drove away in a limo to start their new life together. The beautiful flowers were provided by Flowers In Season and hair and make up was done by Sarah’s good friend Jen Hoover.

It was a wonderful weekend. Lona and Sarah are fabulous women and I so enjoyed being a part of their celebration. It’s always hard to say goodbye to my amazing bridal couples, but I hope we will stay cyber connected on Facebook! Congratulations and come back and visit for your anniversary!!!!

Opening Night for Lyric Theatre’s THE FULL MONTY was a huge success. The show was amazing and the reception afterward gave cast and crew a chance to celebrate with family and friends. There are three more days of performances ahead so if you STILL havent decided to go see the show, here’s another reminder that you are missing out on a great theater experience!

Orchestra rehearsal: 3 Days ’til curtain

Tonight was the orchestra rehearsal for THE FULL MONTY, opening Thursday night at the Flynn Theater. Musical director Rebecca Stone worked with the musicians and the technical crews on both performance as well as balancing the instrumental sound with the actors’ voices. It was just another cog in the Lyric Theater machine to get ready for opening night.

Next up: Tuesday’s dress rehearsal. Check back Wednesday for some really fun photos from that!

Full Monty countdown: 4 days until Opening Night

Lyric Theater Actors and crew began blending their talents on stage today to create the magic that will be THE FULL MONTY, opening Thursday night at the Flynn Theater. Logistics included microphone placements, set changes and how to drive a car on stage without hitting anyone or anything. Over the next few days, the timing will be perfected, choreography will be tightened and performances will be honed. And on November 14, the curtain will rise and show will go on…

Lyric Theater’s “The Full Monty” moved into the Flynn Theater this weekend to get ready for the opening of the show next Thursday night. I am the show’s photographer, so I was onhand to see the big lighting debut of the FULL MONTY marquee on stage. It’s awesome and the show will DEFINITELY be awesome so if you havent got your tickets yet, RUN to the box office and grab them before you lose the chance!

Eli’s “Rock Mitzvah”

After a year of preparation, Eli R. became a Bar Mitzvah on October 10 at Temple Sinai in South Burlington. Surrounded by family and friends, he chanted his torah portion and led the Saturday morning service as he celebrated a right of religious passage as he moved into Jewish adulthood.

The celebration continued that evening at “Eli’s Rock Mitzvah After Party” held at Vermont National Country Club. The theme was ROCK N’ ROLL, as Eli’s first love is music. DJ Charlie Rice blasted out the tunes all night and kids and adults partied together, moving from the traditional “Hora” to classic rock and roll to old Favorites like YMCA and the Macarana! And the Bar Mitzvah boy himself took to the stage with his own rock Band and they entertained the cheering crowd, with Eli on vocals.

The only thing better was the chocolate fountain! Yum!
