New Hampshire residents Mary and Mindy have been together for 22 years, and finally, after their state passed the Marriage equality law last year, they decided it was time to make “honest women” of themselves and get hitched. Joined by their adopted canine children Niko and Jovi (Niko was the ring bearer!), Mary and Mindy shared their vows in front of 125 friends and family members.

It was a lovely Saturday afternoon ceremony, July 17, followed by dinner and dancing and there were almost as many kids there as there were adults (including many of Mary’s students!). Needless to say, there were lots of happy tears and joyous moments and special personal touches (like the custom made cake topper of the bridal couple and all of their animals!)

Mary and Mindy are two of those most genuine and loving people I’ve had the honor of working with and I can’t be happier for them and their new life together as a married couple. May they live happily (and legally) ever after….

Sarah and Tony are getting married on September 5 in Stowe, and we just got their engagement session in by the skin of our teeth. They met while both at Harvard University and so we were originally scheduled to do the E session in Harvard Square this summer. But the airlines didnt cooperate and Sarah’s flight was cancelled just before she was to fly to Boston from San Francisco to meet up with Tony and me.

So, with just weeks to go until the wedding, Sarah and Tony made one last visit to Vermont and we were able to connect for their portrait session. It was a beautiful evening, close to sunset and, since Sarah’s father was a farmer, I had my eyes set on taking them to a field in Shelburne loaded with hay bales. As a lark, we also took along my newly restored victorian love seat and we had a blast using it to create fun portraits. This couple is just too adorable and I can’t wait to photograph them again at the wedding! Enjoy this lovely little slideshow and I dare you not to smile!!

I met Lee and Tiffany just a few months ago, when they came to Vermont from Philly, along with their 4-year-old daughter Ellie, for their engagement portrait session. We had such a great day of photography and getting to know one another, and I knew then that they’d be friends for life. I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding and see them share their vows in front of their family and friends.

Lee and Tiffany chose to wed on July 4th, a day that celebrates independence and equality for everyone in this country. It reminded me of how proud I am to live in Vermont, where same sex weddings are embraced and honored. They are so in love, such wonderful mothers to their daughter and after meeting their families, I understood why they they are both so warm and giving to each other and those around them.

So, here’s to this beautiful couple and I hope this slideshow does their day justice!

Tiffany worked on so many details of this wedding, it was hard for me to believe she was still standing when the ceremony started. But  the effort did not go unnoticed and everything was gorgeous.  I loved it all– from the orange crinoline under Tiffany’s  wedding dress to the personalized bride and groom pens she left at each place setting.  The food was scrumtuous (Thanks to Catering By Dale!) and the funky music (the Phil Abair Band) kept the guests dancing until the school busses on site brought everyone back to the hotel at the end of the night.

After a couple of hours of face painting, stocking up on hair accessories (donated by Goody) and warming up, all runners come to the start line. They all wear the Number 1 on their shirt, because they are all NUMBER 1 just for participating. And at the end of the race, each runner gets a medal (donated by national sponsor New Balance shoes), which they wear proudly around their necks.

Lizzie and Ben are getting married next September and I can’t wait for their wedding. I have known Lizzie’s parents for years and I am just so excited to be a part of the celebration. For their engagement session, we started shooting pictures in and around my studio (you all know how much I love the train tracks and the bright red wall of a nearby old building) but then we thought it would be fun to spend some time in UPSTAIRS ANTIQUES across the street. I had never been there and Lizzie and Ben were psyched to go snooping through the dusty shelves in search of some treasures.

And it was full of treasures-both the store and the photo ops! Ben and Lizzie were particularly taken with an antique Ski lift and I couldnt resist making oodles of photos of this beautiful couple reflected in the ornate old mirrors hanging on the wall.

We ended our session with some lovely and romantic lake side portraits and then I sent the couple on their way until I see them again next Fall. Congratulations, Lizzie and Ben!!! Have a great summer…

We had a ball running all over Oakledge Park for their engagement photo session last week, the whole time Ellie asking, “Can I take off my clothes and go in the water now?” And it would have been perfect, but when Ellie slipped in the water and scraped her bottom, there was nothing we could do to console her…. Until we ate ice cream, that is!

After the ice cream, tears all dried and Ellie’s bottom feeling a little less sore, We continued our session outside my studio. Ellie decided that she, too, needed to take pictures, so she borrowed one of my toy cameras and finished the day by taking some shots of her moms. You HAVE to watch this slideshow to the end to see these precious images of the budding photographer at work!

And, yes, Ellie, I wouldnt miss your wedding for the world. It WILL be one of the highlights of my summer.

Yesterday’s Green Mountain Derby Dames bout with Killah Bees was awesome and it came right down to the wire as to which team would squeek out the win. OK, so it wasn’t our Gals, but it was still a total ball to watch them skate!
