Lisa and Peter are gearing up for their wedding in June, being held at one of my most favorite places in the world for an event, Mountain Meadows Lodge in Killington. I have blogged before about the super adorable Alice the pot-bellied pig, and how she and her fellow farm animals wander around the property during the cocktail hour at weddings so they can visit with guests.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to photographing Lisa and Peter’s upcoming nuptials and all the fun that is sure to be included in the celebration. This beautiful couple has been planning their Vermont destination wedding from their home in Bermuda. Actually, Peter is English and Lisa is from Texas, and their guests are coming from every direction to attend the ceremony. A highlight for me will be making pictures of Lisa and Peter on their wedding day, surrounded by their children, Lisa’s mother and Lisa’s 1-hr-old grand daughter- Four generations all together. Really, This is the kind of event that already has me grinning ear to ear, and it’s still two months away.

The beautiful couple in my studio

I was able to spend some time with Peter and Lisa on their recent trip to Vermont to meet with vendors. It was one of those rainy, but warm March days and after doing some portraits in the studio, the skies cleared so we headed down to the Burlington waterfront to do some gorgeous, romantic pictures.

On the way back to the studio, we stopped at one of my favorite haunts, Vintage Inspired Lifestyle Marketplace, one of the coolest of cool antique warehouses in Vermont. After poking around and exploring some great things, Peter presented his bride-to-be with the best souvenir! It perfectly completed the afternoon and we went back to the studio so Peter and Lisa could get on their way.

What an awesome find at Vintage Inspired near Karen's studio.

Jake & Allie’s E Session

After almost two years engaged, Jake and Allie are finally getting married this May and I am thrilled to be the lucky photographer for this awesome and long awaited celebration.

I first met this super sweet couple in my role as “chick clicker”, photographing for the Green Mountain Derby Dames. Their neighbors Bruise and Bot” were both Derby skaters and Jake and Allie were supportive fans, so I’d see them at every bout.

Recently, on a kinda-sorta-cold March Saturday, we spent a few hours together, and I got to know them better as a couple. We started at their apartment in Burlington, where they live with their dog and 2 cats and hundreds of books ( so many that their main book shelf reminded me of the Leaning Tower of Pisa!)

Animal crazy as I am, I had to keep my attention on the engaged couple, but I couldn’t help incorporating the furry babies into at least a few pictures…

We later visited a few of their favorite haunts–the waterfront, Fletcher Free library and Speeder and Earl’s on Pine Street, and I love the pictures I took of them along the way.

Here’s a totally fun slideshow recapping my afternoon with Jake and Allie, accompanied by the equally-as-fun tune, Uh Oh, I’m Falling , by Shelley Fraley. Since the slideshow is in FLASH, you’ll need to leave your IPAD and find a laptop so you can view it (sorry! Im working on it!!)

Jessica and Grey’s E session

Before I left on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I met with bride-and-groom-to-be Jessica and Grey for their Engagement portrait session. Their wedding is quickly approaching– September 29th!–so we barely snuck in the E session!

It was so great to meet them and have an afternoon to get to know one another before their big day next month.

They are fun and easy going and it is obvious how much they love each other and cant wait to be married.

I had to leave for vacation without getting their portraits up online, so Here I sit with a Grande Americano at the Starbucks in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, uploading their photos and writing this blog.

Since there is little time to chat, I will just present the great pictures of this beautiful couple and say that I can’t wait to photograph them at their celebration. See you soon, Jessica and Grey!

Here’s a fun video slideshow of Jessica and Grey’s Engagement portrait session:

Jill and Mattison’s E session

Mattison and Jill were engaged on Valentine’s Day 2011 and are getting married in July at the gorgeous Grand Isle Lake House. I asked Jill to tell me the story of Mattison’s proposal and she answered, “which one?!” Apparently, there have been several over the 12 years since their love story began and she finally said “yes“. It’s not that Jill doesn’t ADORE Mattison, or that she doesn’t love sharing their beautiful South Hero home, their three dogs and their and committed life together; she just wasn’t sure about the word “marriage”. Then Mattison showed her some ring designs by an amazing jeweler–and I guess that did the trick. Diamonds are a girls best friend, ya’ know!

I got to know this beautiful and engaging couple through our mutual love of watching women’s roller derby and about the time I became “Chick Clicker” for the Green Mountain Derby Dames“, they started doing their website design. Three years later, I have hung up my Chick Clicker persona but am happy to say that I still have Jill and Mattison in my life and I am thrilled to be photographing their wedding next month.

If you know me, then you know I am an avid dog lover so some of my attention at this couple’s E session was centered on their three adorable pooches, Toluca, Sherman and Quincy. I mean, how could I resist these faces???

Congratulations, Mattison and Jill, on your engagement (finally) and your long awaited wedding. It will be an amazing celebration.

Katie and Barbie’s E session

CUTE doesnt even begin to describe this couple. I mean, Katie and Barbie? Even their names are sweet! You can’t help but smile when they smile and giggle when they giggle. And, in photographing their Engagement session last week, we all did alot of smiling and giggling!

Accompanied by their two large (and strong!) dogs, the couple came over from New York and we attempted a leisurely stroll and portrait session in Oakledge Park. Ha ha. NOT! Their babies were a bit of a handful, but we had some fun and made some great pictures, and everyone was happy.

I’ll be over in Lake George to photograph Katie and Barbie’s wedding in August and I don’t think the dogs will be attending, so I’m happy that they got to have their day in front of the camera. I’m looking forward, however, to doing some beautiful portraits of this couple, when they aren’t being pulled along by 200 pounds of playful puppy energy!

Enjoy the slideshow!

Holli and Corey’s E Session

Holli and Corey are gearing up for their wedding at the end of June in Queechie, where Holli was raised. Corey grew up in the nearby town of Tunbridge and they actually met in 1995 as incoming freshman to Hartford high school. The couple were just friends in high school, and then Holli went off to college and Corey joined the Marines. Eventually, though, Holli and Corey reconnected on Facebook. Fate? They were engaged on September 17, 2010-the day before Holli turned 30. How great is that story!

Last week I drove to Tunbridge to meet the bridal couple to do their E session. I was already familiar with Holli’s family, having photographed her cousin Laura’s wedding a few years back so I was excited to meet them and spend some time getting acquainted. They took me on a tour of Corey’s hometown, which consists of a tiny general store, the site of Tunbridge World’s Fair, and then countless picturesque covered bridges, cow pastures and vistas (though it was way too foggy to actually see them!).

It was easy to see that Holli and Corey are as comfortable together as, well, old high school friends. And they were so fun to photograph because of their easy, loving rapport with each other. Normally, the bride-to-be is a little more relaxed than the groom and trying to get her fiance comfortable. In case, though, the tables were turned a bit and Corey kept trying to relax his sweetie and make her laugh. Definitely, by the end of the morning, Holli was learning to find her inner supermodel and enjoy her personal paparazzi! And what a smile on this woman! Stunning! Both of them.

I can’t wait to the wedding and the opportunity to photograph them again-this time on Holli’s home turf of Queechie. I have no doubt they will both look stunning and their celebration will be filled with joy! Congratulations, Holli and Corey. Enjoy this slideshow of your E session and I will see you soon!

Lora and David’s E session

I love when I’m contracted by a Boston couple to photograph their wedding, especially when I get to meet them on their “home field” to do their engagement portrait session (an excuse to visit my family in Boston and write off the mileage :) ).

Lora and David live in Allston and one of the places they love to visit is the Minute Man National Historic Park. We first met at a coffee shop in Concord and spent some time getting to know one another. I learned that they met in a “Movement for Theater” class at Skidmore College and they describe themselves now as the “annoying cute couple” at a Boston area Biotek company (how they got from the theater world to the biotek world is a longer story).

We had a great afternoon exploring the park, crossing the Old North Bridge (historic site in the Battle of Concord, the first day of battle in the American War of Independence) and seeing the Minute Man statue, erected by Daniel Chester French in 1875 (Yup, this is part portrait session blog post and part American history lesson!)

It was so easy making sweet, loving pictures of this couple. Lora and David aren’t shy about touching and showing each other mutual affection. It was fun watching them together, seeing how they look at each other, hold each other, breathe in each other’s air. They play nice!

It’s only about a month or so until I’ll see Lora and David again to shoot their wedding at the gorgeous Basin Harbor club and I hope this slideshow gets the buzz started for them and their family. Congratulations, you two and enjoy these last few weeks before you share your wedding vows and celebrate your union!

Kelli & Mike’s E session

Kelli and Mike are planning their wedding for next October, after being together for about 10 years (off and on since high school!) We took advantage of this year’s gorgeous foliage and did their engagement portrait session last month at Shelburne Farms. I loved watching their easy going nature with each other, and their level of comfort and familiarity that comes with having been together for so long. And they both love to have fun!

Kelli and Mike even walk in sync! How sweet is that…

I love making slideshows for couples and finding what I think is the perfect song to fit both their relationship and mood of the portrait session. For Mike and Kelli, this was easy: You’re My Best Friend by Queen:

Ron and Cris get engaged

Ron and Cris live in Ottawa but their Vermont connection centers around Ron’s family cottage in the Champlain Islands, where he has loved spending time ever since he was a boy. For Ron, proposing to the woman he loves and then planning a wedding could only be done in this most special and sacred place.

The couple met while both working in the Pool and Hot Tub industry and they had to keep their affair under wraps. The chemistry was too great, though, and their relationship blossomed into a full blown romance with wedding bells ringing in their ears. Now they are planning their celebration for next June, with a lakeside ceremony on the pier at the North Hero House and I am so excited to be their photographer!

We recently spent some time together at their Alburg retreat and then at North Hero House, where Ron re-enacted their proposal (so Cris could share the photos with her mother!) It was a beautiful afternoon and the Vermont foliage was in fine form for the engagement session. I can only hope for weather that nice next June at their wedding…

I hope you enjoy this fun and sexy little slideshow of Ron and Cris’s photo session (to the Andrew Allen song, “Loving you Tonight“):

Molly and Chris’s E session

Chris and Molly are newly engaged and I’ll be photographing their wedding next Summer. They visited Vermont last month and while in town, we did an engagement portrait session to help us get to know one another. Of course, it was one of the warmest days of the summer and they were great sports about dealing with the heat and humidity–Especially Chris, who I promised to use my Photoshop skills to eliminate any random sweat stains. (Piece of cake, Chris. You look cool and collected!)

I immediately loved this couple, who met either online or at the grocery story (depending on which one you ask! :) ) Molly is lovely and sweet and a bit proper; Chris is boyish and charming and funny. They compliment each other well and I look forward to getting to know them better over the year as we get closer to their wedding date.

I hope you enjoy this slideshow of images from my afternoon with Chris and Molly, set to the Counting Crows great song, Accidentally In Love:
