ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 11.7 causing havoc with my slideshows!

I’ve received several emails from clients and followers lately, telling me that they cant get the music to play on any of my blog slideshows. UGH!

After doing some research, I found out that Adobe has an active bug report listed on their site and they will hopefully fix the issue shortly.

So, while we wait for Adobe to fix Flash Player with a NEW update, the only option, if you are using version 11.7, is to revert to Flash Player 11.6, which you can download HERE.

Since I LOVE all of music I choose for my slideshows and I want everyone visiting my site to enjoy the shows synchronized to the music I pick, I encourage you all to revert to FLASH Player 11.6! The bug is not just messing with my slideshows, by the way. It is a apparently affecting a much larger base of flash users.

Sorry for the inconvenience but, as my daughter likes to say, “Put it in perspective; This is such a 1st world problem!”

Amen. Have a great day!

Peter and Lisa’s E session

Peter and Lisa cozy up for a portrait session at Oakledge Beach in BUrlington, Vermont

Lisa and Peter are gearing up for their wedding in June, being held at one of my most favorite places in the world for an event, Mountain Meadows Lodge in Killington. I have blogged before about the super adorable Alice the pot-bellied pig, and how she and her fellow farm animals wander around the property during the cocktail hour at weddings so they can visit with guests.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to photographing Lisa and Peter’s upcoming nuptials and all the fun that is sure to be included in the celebration. This beautiful couple has been planning their Vermont destination wedding from their home in Bermuda. Actually, Peter is English and Lisa is from Texas, and their guests are coming from every direction to attend the ceremony. A highlight for me will be making pictures of Lisa and Peter on their wedding day, surrounded by their children, Lisa’s mother and Lisa’s 1-hr-old grand daughter- Four generations all together. Really, This is the kind of event that already has me grinning ear to ear, and it’s still two months away.

The beautiful couple in my studio

I was able to spend some time with Peter and Lisa on their recent trip to Vermont to meet with vendors. It was one of those rainy, but warm March days and after doing some portraits in the studio, the skies cleared so we headed down to the Burlington waterfront to do some gorgeous, romantic pictures.

On the way back to the studio, we stopped at one of my favorite haunts, Vintage Inspired Lifestyle Marketplace, one of the coolest of cool antique warehouses in Vermont. After poking around and exploring some great things, Peter presented his bride-to-be with the best souvenir! It perfectly completed the afternoon and we went back to the studio so Peter and Lisa could get on their way.

What an awesome find at Vintage Inspired near Karen's studio.

Jake & Allie’s E Session

After almost two years engaged, Jake and Allie are finally getting married this May and I am thrilled to be the lucky photographer for this awesome and long awaited celebration.

1045

I first met this super sweet couple in my role as “chick clicker”, photographing for the Green Mountain Derby Dames. Their neighbors Bruise and Bot” were both Derby skaters and Jake and Allie were supportive fans, so I’d see them at every bout.

Recently, on a kinda-sorta-cold March Saturday, we spent a few hours together, and I got to know them better as a couple. We started at their apartment in Burlington, where they live with their dog and 2 cats and hundreds of books ( so many that their main book shelf reminded me of the Leaning Tower of Pisa!)

Animal crazy as I am, I had to keep my attention on the engaged couple, but I couldn’t help incorporating the furry babies into at least a few pictures…

We later visited a few of their favorite haunts–the waterfront, Fletcher Free library and Speeder and Earl’s on Pine Street, and I love the pictures I took of them along the way.

Zaq’s Bar Mitzvah

Zaq became a Bar Mitzvah on the morning of December 8th and then, later that evening, he celebrated both his coming of age in the Jewish Religion AND the first night of Hanukkah with a party at The Round Barn at Sleepy Hollow.

Zaq’s Hanukkah-themed party commemorated both joyous occasions with music, laughter and fun. From Latkes, dreidel and lighting the Menorah to dancing, sparklers and roasting marshmallows over a fire pit, there was something for everyone.

It was an amazing day for Zaq and his family and there are so many fun pictures that I’ll just let the images tell the story… Enjoy the slideshow-with some rockin’ music from Journey and Red Hot Chili Peppers (NOTE: THIS SLIDESHOW IS CREATED IN FLASH so it cannot be viewed on an iPad or iPhone. RUN as quick as you can and find a computer or laptop!!):

Katie and Lauren’s E session

Katie and Lauren are getting married next June and I had the chance recently to take a few hours with them and do their engagement portrait season.

I love doing E sessions because it allows me to spend quality time with a couple and get to know them, instead of just showing up like a stranger to photograph their wedding.

During this great afternoon with the couple, I learned how playful they are with each other, how they both love funky old art and “sexy ugly” buildings! I learned that Lauren hates getting her sneakers dirty and that Katie likes to tease her about it. I also learned that Katie runs “like a girl” and that Lauren likes to tease HER about THAT!

Katie is all about cute shoes and dresses and red wine and making you laugh. Lauren is flannel shirts, a cold draft and nurturing those she loves (and most definitely Katie!) They go together like two puzzle pieces- custom made to fit perfectly!

I’m so glad that I had the chance to experience the love that this couple shares and now I can’t wait to photograph their wedding and witness their joy on that day.

As a funny bonus, their E shoot took place on Halloween eve and we came across King Arthur and his knights on their quest for the Holy Grail–so Lauren and Katie joined them for a photo op!

Here are some highlights from Katie and Lauren’s fun engagement session:

Kelli and Mike’s Wedding

Kelli and Mike have been a couple for about 11 years- But their long engagement came to an end last month, when they were married at the West Monitor Barn in Richmond. It was a very soggy day, but the fall colors were still vibrant and rich.

Of course, it was a Fall themed celebration, complete with pumpkins, apple cider and a traditional turkey dinner by the awesome folks at Bevo Catering.

The ceremony was Very short… and the celebration was long and super fun! DJ Jim Provost of Moonlight Entertainment kept the party in full swing all night.

The evening was full of laughter, and many memorable toasts and moments:

Here’s a slideshow recap of the day’s events:

As always, Thanks to my assistant, the uber-talented Jennifer Kiewit, for all of her great images and for being my indispensable right-hand (wo)man!

Suzie and Joni’s Romantic Vermont Wedding

I dont often meet real-life “cowgirls”, but I think I have to put Suzie and Joni in that category. They came to Vermont to get married all the way from Cheyenne, Wyoming, complete with cowboy boys and two huge hats (maybe not 10-gallon, but pretty darn impressive!)

Their Southern charm was infectious, as was their obvious love for each other and their desire to be legally united. Though their marriage will not be recognized by their home state, here in the great state of Vermont–and certainly forever in their hearts–their union is considered both valid and precious. I was honored to bear witness to their exchange of wedding vows and their declaration of love.

It was one of those overcast Fall days, a little soggy, but the color was gorgeous and Grunberg Haus, a romantic Austrian style bed and breakfast in Waterbury, was a perfect setting for their intimate ceremony (just them and their JP and the innkeeper!).

The service was all of ten minutes, after which the couple drank champagne, ate cake and danced to an playlist on their Iphone. From there, it was to be a celebratory dinner at Michael’s on the Hill (yum!) and then a couple of more days of Vermont R&R, before heading back to Wyoming as Mrs. and Mrs!

Here’s a super fun, 3.5 minute slideshow, accompanied by the awesome SHeDAISY, performing Good Together:

Jessica and Grey’s Wedding

Jessica and Grey: Super cool, beautiful, laid back, fun, mega smart and, boy, do they know how to throw a wedding!

It had been a few years since I shot a wedding at the Castle Hill Resort and Spa down in Ludlow and I forgot how totally gorgeous it is and especially how beautiful it looks during Foliage season.

I just love weddings that explode with unique details that capture the couple’s personalities and this was definitely one of those days. Everything was stunning, from Jessica’s gown and sparkling Jimmy Choo sandals (paired with the flower girl’s gold and jewel studded Rapunzel wedding shoes) to the custom fresh flower leis flown in from Hawaii for the wedding party and family members, to Grey’s silver monogrammed Tiffany cufflinks (a gift from his bride).

I should mention that the bridesmaids all looked gorgeous, too!

Look how cute Grey is! (I think he looks like a young Donny Osmond!)

Grey’s dad presents Jessica with her bridal lei.

The ceremony, though a bit on the rainy side, was beautiful, blending cultural traditions of both the bride (Chinese) and Groom (Hawaiian) and I also loved the pastor’s colorful garment, adorned with a large “JOY” stitched on the front!

After cocktail hour inside the castle, the rain let up and guests made their way to the tent for an amazing dinner reception. Food was delicious and DJ Newton Peak from Peak Entertainment kept the party in full swing all night with great dance music.

I love this picture of Grey dancing with his grandmother and Jessica in the background with her father!

Showing off the wedding bling!!

The flower girl (Jessica’s niece) almost outstaged the bride on the dance floor. She was like the energizer bunny, refusing to run out of battery power until the bitter end!

The following is a fun slideshow recap of Jessica and Grey’s celebratory day- with a little old Pet Benatar (“Here Is My Heart”):

PS…Jessica and Grey, thank you for my beautiful lei! I was so honored to wear it!

Katie and Barbie’s Lake George Wedding

Katie and Barbie were married in Lake George last month, at a venue I have never been-the Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center.

It’s a large resort in the Andirondacks, right next to the Fort William Henry, which, I learned, commanded the southern end of Lake George from November 1755 to August 1757. The Fort’s history is short but its final tumultuous days were retold in the “Last of the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper. Anyway, it’s a very cool place and a really fun and funky town!

The brides both wore long white gowns, though very different from each other, reflecting their unique styles and personalities. And to the delight of–and giggling from– friends and family, Barbie wore her signature Black sunglasses along with her dress!

haHaha..

There were so many little details that the couple implemented and the hotel staff really outdid themselves in making the banquet hall look warm and inviting. The colors of the day–Purple and green– looked fresh and fun, just like Katie and Barbie!

I do like this picture of the bridesmaids before the ceremony:

I now pronounce you… Married!

They are such a sweet couple. I just loved watching them smile all day and how happy they were to finally be legally married!

OK, there is no way I could resist using the canon as a prop in at least some of the “formal portraits.”

Introduced as “Mrs and Mrs” for the first time…

And the first dance…

It makes my heart sing…

I have so much darn fun with these glasses as wedding!

How great when the bridal couple does a “costume change” during the reception. It makes for a whole new set of pictures!

Here’s a really fun slideshow looking back at Katie and Barbie’s Celebration (using their FIRST DANCE song, “A Thousand Years” sung by Christina Perri):

Kari and Stephan’s wedding

Kari and Stephan were married last month at Basin Harbor Club on one of those gorgeous sunny July days. For Kari, it was like coming home. Born in Monkton, Kari moved overseas with her family when she was 9-yrs-old.(her parents taught at international schools). Though she has lived out of the U.S. for most of the last 15 years, her family has always returned to Vermont each summer to vacation on Lake Champlain.

Kari and Stephan are actually high school sweethearts, but their high school was in Israel! To make their romance even more international, Stephan is German, raised in Germany, and now, the couple lives in Doha, Qatar! That’s right-Qatar! Quite a commute to Vermont to get married!

The couple looked stunning, with Kari in a form-fitting white gown (and bright blue shoes for a touch of color!) and Stephan in a sharp navy suit and light pink tie. The gardens at Basin Harbor were in full bloom and we definitely took advantage of that as a setting for their pre-ceremony portrait session.

All of the details were perfect, of course, and Basin Harbor outdid themselves with the food, with appetizers like yummy figs and prosciutto and nori rolls and then dinner which including salmon, filet and an amazing pasta bar!

The bridal party was a hoot-including many who came from various countries to celebrate with the couple! And, since everyone speaks the language of love, there weren’t any apparent communication issues!

This was a partying crowd and the dance floor was busy all night, with the help of DJ Jim Companion from Top Hat Entertainment.

I love this picture of Kari and Stephan’s moms and a family friend channeling their inner “Mama Mia” and singing ABBA songs into their makeshift microphones!

I hope you enjoy this fun slideshow, recapping this glorious wedding celebration: (Slideshow is FLASH, so you cant see it on your Ipad or Iphone. Quick, find a computer!!)
